What it is
Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of ACTH(4-7) used clinically in Russia for stroke rehabilitation and cognitive impairment. Its primary research mechanism is BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) upregulation — BDNF being the key growth factor responsible for neuronal plasticity, learning, and memory consolidation. It also modulates dopamine and serotonin transporters, and activates melanocortin receptors with neuroprotective effects. Research applications include cognitive enhancement, focus and working memory improvement, neuroprotection under stress, and post-stroke recovery support.
